In 2019, Antalya attracted nearly 16 million foreign tourists, including some 6 million Russians and 2.7 million Germans.

However, last year when the pandemic hit global travel and tourism activity, the city welcomed 3.4 million visitors.

Things have improved this year, however, as the number of tourist arrivals in Antalya jumped 173% in January-September from the previous year, reaching 7 million people. In the first nine months of the year, 2.7 million Russians, 1.1 million Ukrainians and 880,000 Germans spent their holidays in the city.

“The Safe Tourism Certificate program and staff immunizations have bolstered our reputation. The data suggests that we could welcome up to 9 million visitors this year, ”said Erkan Yağcı, president of the Association of Mediterranean Hoteliers and Tourism Investors (AKTOB).

The pandemic has been managed so successfully that, even during the period when no hotel was due to open due to COVID-19, Antalya attracted 3.5 million tourists, thanks to the measures taken at the sites and the tourism program. sure, Yağcı noted. .

Pre-booking for Antalya vacations for 2022 is already strong, and barring any unpleasant surprises, the province could see foreign tourist arrivals recover to 2019 levels next year, according to Yağcı.
