With summer vacations definitely behind us, dnata Travel has declared the top five vacation destinations for summer 2022.

In order of popularity, the top five are: Turkey, Thailand, Mauritius, Maldives and Switzerland.

Thailand recorded the strongest growth as a destination based on the number of holiday bookings between June and September 2022, compared to the same period last year.

Turkey – which was also in the travel agency’s top three summer travel destinations in 2021 – was the most popular destination overall for a summer holiday from the United Arab Emirates this year. In Turkey, the major city of Istanbul, alongside Bodrum and Antalya on the Turkish Riviera, were the top three destinations for travelers from the United Arab Emirates.

Meerah Ketait, Head of UAE Retail and Leisure at dnata Travel, said: “International travel has rebounded strongly over the summer. Last year, the Maldives, Turkey and Switzerland accounted for over 40% of our total bookings from June to September 2021, while over the same period in 2022 over 25 destinations accounted for 40% of our bookings global.

Many more destinations have opened up to tourism, and pent-up demand is pushing travelers to explore more of the world, including lesser-known places and varied locations in popular hotspots. »

She added: “Thailand is our main growth destination as bookings have increased significantly following the country’s full reopening to tourism, and demand has been driven by an increase in flight availability and the incredible value- country price.

Turkey, the top choice for summer holidays in 2022, also offers great value and major investment in tourism, with new attractions, world-class dining and accommodation options in Istanbul and the Riviera. Turkey, resulting in continued frequentation of the United Arab Emirates.”

Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia are also showing signs of strong demand. As the festive season approaches, searches for trips to Europe’s party market hotspots are already surging, especially in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
