Expo 2020 Dubai marks a new era of cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Turkey (Envoy) – News

Turkey’s participation in Expo 2020 means “a new era of cooperation” and will increase tourism to his country, Turkish Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Tugay Tuncer said.

The envoy, who visited the Turkish pavilion on Wednesday, said his country’s participation is also an opportunity to showcase Turkey’s robust and diverse economy.

Tuncer, who previously worked as a tour guide, said Expo 2020 is also expected to contribute to Turkey’s tourism sector.

“The Expo will contribute to Turkey’s vision of diverse tourism, including from the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf, which are key visiting markets for the Expo. We will show that Turkey is ready and willing to welcome more tourism, ”the envoy told Expo News Service.

“Many people derive their income from tourism – whether they are guides, hotel workers or in food production or processing. The industry has many by-products and sub-industries.

“We welcome around 30 million tourists a year before Covid-19, through coastal, cultural, health and winter tourism. This year we hit a high number, despite a fairly late opening to the market, and it was clear that people are hungry for travel, “he added.

Discussing the growth in trade between the two countries, the ambassador said: “Our trade with the UAE stands at $ 8.5 billion and the numbers are increasing – in the first six months we have seen an increase of almost 100%, and Expo 2020 will contribute to [this growth]. This will show that we can export processed foods, fruits and vegetables and building materials, which this region needs and which Turkey has in abundance. Our construction sector is the second in the world.

Mukerrem Aksoy, Commissioner General of Turkey, highlighted the strength of the country’s food and agricultural sectors when the world faces food security challenges: “Turkey produces organic food for the whole world. And we are ready to supply the world.

Located in the Sustainability District, the Turkey Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, under the theme Creating the Future from the Origin of Civilizations, has been designed to reflect the unique history of Anatolia – the cradle of civilizations, as well as to showcase the country’s nature and sustainability goals.

Inspired by Göbeklitepe (Potbelly Hill), one of the earliest manifestations of man-made monumental architecture, the pavilion aims to provide a unique experience for visitors, highlighting Turkey’s perspective on the future.

Visitors can explore the products grown and processed in Turkey, as well as its main industries, service sectors and robust investment environment.
